LOCATION: Markham, ON
ONSITE/HYBRID: This is an on-site role as the hiring team will require the student to work in the Markham office at least 3 days a week throughout the entire duration of the co-op work term. COVID-19 protocols are being strictly followed.

ABOUT THE DEPARTAMENT
We’re a young and rapidly growing team powering the graphic processing units (GPUs) of Cloud Service Providers such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services. As cloud computing sets the tone in the new generation of technology, we work to enable cloud gaming, machine learning and powering other creative uses of GPUs in a non-traditional environment.
THE ROLE
We develop kernel driver software and related software tools (such as the Radeon Software) for professional, server-grade GPUs, such as AMD Radeon Pro V620 (known as NGads V620 on Azure), AMD Instrinct™ MI300 and AWS G4ad V510. A successful candidate will work with industry experts on the team on solutions related to virtualization platforms and operating systems.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
The successful candidate will learn about graphics driver architecture and how we program our graphics chips to work with a variety of Hypervisors (KVM, HyperV, VMWare, Xen) and Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, Android). You will participate in SCRUM teams to give you an opportunity to learn and experience all aspects of software development process including coding, documentation, and performance analysis. Your problem-solving skills will be challenged by debugging and resolving issues. As you finish one project and move on to the next, you will witness the unique learning opportunities between the different cloud providers and use cases of our GPUs.
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong object-oriented programming background, C/C++ preferred
- Ability to write high quality code with a keen attention to detail
- Familiarity with Windows, Linux and/or Android operating system development
- Experience with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers is a plus
- Enjoy tinkering with containers and other new technologies
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Highly motivated, self-starter with good interpersonal skills
