Based at our offices in Ellerslie, Auckland and reporting to the Finance & Accounting Manager, Pacific you will work across Australia and New Zealand and assist with the timely preparation of accurate reporting for our entities plus any related schedules.  In addition, you will be key in monitoring and adhering to internal controls as well as operating and improving monthly processes.

You will be instrumental in the identification of inefficient and ineffective areas within finance and be empowered to make process improvements.

  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, completing these on time, to a high quality consistently.

  • Collaborating alongside the wider finance team to ensure accurate accounting records every month and driving process improvements to deliver efficiencies.

  • The preparation and posting of manual journals and the review and maintenance of all systems that post automated journals.

  • Connecting non-financial staff with the finance function and improving the value, reliability, and quality of information and insights that finance produces.

  • Operation and understanding of multi-facets within the ERP system and associated interfaces ensuring system reliability at all times.

  • Assisting with the external and internal audits, and all other statutory obligations, ensuring these are completed timely and successfully.

  • Preparation of taxation requirements for New Zealand and Australia including but not limited to GST, FBT, and NRWT.

  • The preparation, maintenance, and review of systems to ensure proper accounting, payments, and reporting in areas such as leasing and treasury.

  • Manage Intercompany transactions as well as settlements for AU, US and EMEA according to Company’s requirements.

  • Maintain the lease accounting requirements in Visual Lease working with the Property Leads in Pacific, International and Property Reporting Team in North America.

  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements working with the FP&A team to deliver accurate and insightful report to executive management.

  • Assist in the decision-making process and testing of key process and system changes and provide leadership in addressing gaps in the finance function.

  • Assisting in the overall financial control function including internal controls, payables, payroll, receivables, credit, financial planning and analysis, fleet, franchisees, group reporting, and external reporting.

    • Tertiary degree with a BCom or equivalent with CA or CPA or near completion with a minimum three years’ experience in a CA firm or industry accounting role.

    • Experience working in a shared services centre responsible for US GAAP and IFRS reporting entities will be highly beneficial.

    • Experience of adherence to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and completion of PCAOB type audits with familiarity in completing an external audit with one of the big four audit firms (desirable but not required).

    • Ability to do research and continuously self- develop accounting acumen and become a source of knowledge for accounting related matters.

    • Understand the goals and drivers of the business in order to add insights to improve the overall systems and processes of the finance function.

    • Demonstrate ability to understand and efficiently operate multiple complex systems including ERPs, databanks, revenue/billing etc.

    • Strong accounting knowledge and able to explain finance to non-finance people.

    • Demonstrate the ability to work with a diverse group of people across multiple functions, and across multiple countries.

    • Excellent time management skills and adherence to deadlines, especially around month end.

    • The ability to work as a part of a team as well as autonomously.

    • Good judgement and decision-making skills, being able to contribute to key decisions.

    • Proven record for identifying and leading positive change in culture, processes, and systems.

    • Advanced Excel knowledge including pivot tables and macro skills (using VBA and querying data using Power BI) along with sound IT knowledge with the ability to pick up new programs quickly (Oracle suite of products including Smartview will be beneficial).
