Bank of America- Merrill Lynch’s Global Equities Group is a market leader in providing world-class service to a wide range of clients.  The Global Markets team provides sales and trading services, liquidity, hedging strategies and industry-leading insights, analytics and competitive pricing to institutional clients. This team operates at the center of the world’s debt and equity markets. They provide sales and trading services, liquidity, hedging strategies and industry-leading insights, analytics and competitive pricing to more than 9,000 institutional clients across six continents.

Bank of America- Merrill Lynch’s Equities Management Group (EMG) is a market leader in providing world-class service to a wide range of clients. 

Global Equities includes Institutional Derivatives Sales, Derivative and Convertible Trading, New Product Development, Equity Capital Markets, Institutional Equity Sales, Equity Trading, Electronic Trading Services, Prime Brokerage and OTC Trading. Global Equities provides marketing, structuring and trading of listed and customized equity products for it clients. 

As a Global Markets team member, your role offers market-making, financing, securities-clearing, settlement and custody services globally to our institutional investor clients in support of their investing and trading activities. The team also works with commercial and corporate clients to provide risk management products using interest rate, equity, credit, currency and commodity derivatives; foreign exchange; fixed-income; and mortgage-related products.

Job Description (Overview of Role)

Prime Brokerage Analyst will initially work with US sales and client servicing teams. These services will include- reconciliation, reaffirmation, verification of counterparty (Hedge Fund) data with Merrill Lynch system data and any other related activities

Team broadly supports in preparing trade volumes / turnover reports across different market products. The team also helps in maintaining dashboards, updating invoices, highlighting breaks, and preparing monthly summary/dashboards for internal reporting purposes. Some of the periodic (M-o-M, Y-o-Y etc.) include comparable analysis of volumes and revenues for identifying the trend and ad-hoc deliverables

The role also entails working with various Equities desks like Electronic Sales, Execution Services to understand and to provide support in projects for COO, Sales Trading updates, Analyst cost optimization etc.

Responsibilities

Provide a broad range of data and analytical support to Analysts, Associates and VPs (LOB partners) in the US Equities business,

  • Track business performance based on fee agreements with various clients
  • Management reports tracking business performance
  • Trade reconciliation, Trade reconfirmation across Merrill Lynch and client systems
  • Designing and Implementing models/methods/products
  • Understand business requirements and translate those into deliverables
  • Effectively communicate business, technical and product information at all levels
  • Understand Bank of America policies on Compliance, Expenses etc. and reporting deviances if any
  • Consolidate, analyze and report business / client information
  • Capture data from receipts and invoices sent by LOB and input this data to bank’s applications / systems
  • Liaise with LOB partners and accurately produce and submit expense reports, management of company-issued credit card billings and process bill-backs as needed
  • Standardize data input process across all LOB partners
  • Append client info like client IDs, contacts etc. to determine client profitability numbers
  • Prepare MIS and Reporting to stakeholders
  • Process management of various client related functions and reporting within specified timeline
  • Ensure procedures are accurate, relevant and adhered too
  • Pro-actively contribute to improve process efficiency through root cause analysis
  • Respond and follow up with LOB partners for data requirements

Requirements

  • Education: Graduates in commerce, banking/ B.Com/ BBA/ MMS / MBA / MMS from top tier universities –
  • Exp Range: 2-4 yrs experience preferred
  • Foundation Skills:
  • Over two years of finance experience in Mutual Funds, Insurance and Accounting or back office operations.
  • Basic understanding of financial terminologies (Futures, Options, MBS, etc) is a plus
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization; including management
  • Good research and analytical skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, VBA, Python and AI)
  • Strong Written and Oral Communication
  • Ability to maintain high standards despite pressing deadlines
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Strong knowledge of general business and corporate cultures
  • Strong analytical skills in terms of identifying trends in data
  • Ability to work well under pressure, adapt to unexpected events, prioritize and multi-task in a deadline driven environment
  • Must have excellent judgment; independent thinker and resourceful
  • Prior experience in Financial Services support preferred
