What you will do
Our Global Sustainability Tax practice provides holistic tax advisory and compliance services relating to sustainability taxes including global, federal, state, and local grants, incentives and tax credits, to support transformation to a green and de-carbonized economy. Our services also include assisting clients with emerging tax policies and regulations related to sustainability taxes (including carbon, pollution, health, plastics and other social and governance tax matters).
As an Intern on the team, your role will include:
Supporting the team in research, data collection, and analysis to inform client policy decisions.
Following evolving global, federal, state and local sustainability policies and taxation developments.
Assisting with the creation of thought leadership and client information materials.
Contributing to the writing, editing, and formatting of project reports and proposals.
Developing client deliverables such as grants and incentives applications, incentives ROI analysis and documentation, tax and incentives analysis and benchmarking studies.
Working collaboratively with the team to advise clients on the impacts of sustainability taxes and incentives and their potential impact on achieving corporate sustainability goals.
Job requirements and preferences
Required qualifications
A predicted undergraduate or graduate degree in Economics, Public Policy, Engineering, Environmental Studies, or a related field, with progress towards an LLM in Taxation or JD.
Membership or anticipated membership in a US state bar.
A strong academic record including, without limitation, course work that EY deems relevant to this position.
Strong analytical and writing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary.
Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations.
Preferred qualifications
Interest in environmental sustainability or LEED-certified professional status.
Experience building dashboards using data visualization software.
Experience with federal, state and local incentives.
Experience working in the field of environmental sustainability, taxes or incentives.
