Job Description
Summary
The intern will learn basic molecular biology techniques that includes PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and Western blotting. This is a part-time position, 10 hours/week.
Job Duties
- Learns Western blotting.
- Learns to troubleshoot PCR amplification conditions.
- Understands principles of Gateway cloning.
- Works on PCR amplification of DNA.
- Transcribes RNA into cDNA.
- Clones genes of interest into plasmids.
- Performs western blotting to measure expression differences.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Biology, Neuroscience majors are preferred.
- Interest in neuropsychiatric disorders.
